The gesture, was benefited by residents from 2500 homes in the council.

The distribution of the food items, which was done under the Hon. Alogba’s food bank program tagged, ‘Ijede Tunrayo/ Ayo Ni Temi’, which has been in existence since her emergence two years ago, took place at the council secretariat.

Inside the pack presented to residents were rice, beans, garri, semovita, yam powder, sphagetti, salt, sugar, maggi, tomate paste and groundnut oil. Also provided for the beneficiaries were yams, pepper and vegetables with pack of cooked food.

In her address, Hon. Alogba said that the initiative is her administration’s commitment to the welfare of her people, adding that she is cushioning the effects of the impact of the hard times being faced by residents with the food palliatives.

“This initiative is a reflection of our commitment to the welfare of our people, particularly the elderly and the less privileged.

“Considering the down turn of the economy in recent times, and how it has further affected our standard of living, my administration is determined to cushion the effect of the hard times with the fourth edition of this food support program”.

Hon. Alogba, who said that she hopes that the food items extended to many of the residents will provide support to the benefitting families, also said that the exercise will be a continuous one.

“Even before the removal of fuel subsidy, we have been having the food distribution and today’s distribution, which I believe is very timely, is to attest to the fact that we are connected to our people and to respond to situations that is likely to give families stress”, she said

“It is my hope that this gesture will go a long way to ameliorate the present hardship being faced in the society.
